Improve Your Communication
with Dr Tim van Wanrooij
A workshop for individuals and couples/partners to improve their communication and move past the stuckness in relationships.
Description
For most people, their relationships are at the core of their life. It is what they feel and think about every single day. Sometimes, these relationships can feel stuck and communication may revolve around conflict and misunderstanding.
I have channeled all of my clinical experience working with couples and relationships into this psychologically-informed, supportive workshop so you can learn how to improve your communication and that of your (present/future) relationships into meaningful, empathetic and pure communication.
What will the workshop cover?
This workshop, Improve Your Communication, will equip you with a deeper understanding, scientific and evidence-based techniques to repair and resolve conflict and overcome power dynamics in your relationships.
The workshop is designed to be interactive and engaging, meaning: you will learn the different conflict styles, explore which are most aligned with you, and experience how to shift these to more helpful dynamics and repair the conflict.
The workshop also focuses on power dynamics in relationships: this refers to the subtle, often unspoken ways in which influence, control, and decision-making shared or imbalanced between partners. Understanding these dynamics is crucial as it helps ensure that you have equal agency, voice, and autonomy within the relationship.
During the workshop you will not only learn about these power dynamics, but also learn to recognise the power dynamics and shift power to strengthen your relationships, to ensure feeling heard, respected, and valued.
“Managing conflict and accurately communicating your experiences are key factors that contribute to the longevity of happy and strongs relationships”.
During the workshop you will learn from and with a diverse group of people and examples. Hearing about various experiences of conflict and power dynamics from different relationships can provide fresh examples, insights and alternative viewpoints. People are welcome to share what they are comfortable with during the workshop with the larger group. (General guideline for everyone is when sharing; to share minor challenges, only if comfortable, and apply these learnings on other challenges after the workshop.)
On the day, we will:
Explore different conflict styles and identify the styles you experience the most in your relationships
Master scientific and evidence-based tools and techniques, to resolve and repair future conflicts for a long and healthy relationships
Learn practical tools on how to express and communicate your needs, appreciation and concerns
Understand how subtle power dynamics, influence and control, are at the heart of most relationship, and learn to harness them to strengthen your relationships
Enjoy an engaging and deeply informative workshop grounded in real world examples provided by Dr Tim van Wanrooij
