My Approach

Therapy approaches that I draw from:

Humanistic & Person-Centered

As a Counselling Psychologist, I am a Psychologist fundamentally: a psychotherapist, researcher and mental health advocate. In our work together, my values are to place the person, and our relationship at the core of our work. I aim to empower the person in their authenticity and diversity and support them to discover their unique solutions. And I aim to facilitate personal and interpersonal growth: improving the relationship with themselves & people around them.

This all is done within a non-judgemental, respectful and empowering space, with active support and input from me as the therapist.

Feedback Informed

I view every person as a person who is deeply unique and I tailor our therapeutic work to you - so you get the absolute most out of it. Below are some questions I may ask you to get you thinking about the “how” you would prefer the therapy to go:

* Would you prefer to start by talking about the past, the present or the future?

* Would you prefer to start by focusing on your childhood, or adult life?

* Would you prefer to be encouraged to express strong feelings, or not?

* Would you prefer to take the lead or prefer for me to bring structure to the sessions?

Our way of working can change and evolve over time and depending on your needs.

Emotion Focused

With an Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) approach; your emotions, experiences and understanding of these are often at the centre of the therapy. Rather than focusing in therapy on unhelpful thoughts or behaviours to change difficult experiences: we focus on meaning-making of your experiences and by challenging the ‘core’ or ‘root’ emotions: we work will develop supportive and helpful experiences for your daily life.

For example with couples, I will rarely give ‘home-work’ sheets for you to do at home. Rather, we will have that difficult conversation together, during the session and I will support and coach both partners to listen and communicate productively with one another.

For individuals, it can mean that we focus on difficult or challenging experiences that are holding you back from living your fullest life. Rather than talking about what to do next time something happens, we instead focus on the most relevant present experiences. We will be looking to transform these unhelpful experiences/emotions over the course of our sessions, while fostering strong and helpful emotions that can support change.

In Office Therapy

Attend individual (and relationship) therapy in the office, in Dublin City Centre - D2. The office is at Merrion Square, close to the Dart station, Grand Canal Dock at 42 Mount Street Upper.

Remote Video Therapy

Attend therapy from the comfort of your home and connect from anywhere in Ireland. Video therapy is equally as effective as in-person therapy. Video therapy can offer the ideal solution for some people: the comfort and safety of your own environment can make it easier to open up.

All video sessions are held through a secure video software.
